When People Magazine publishes their 100 Most Beautiful People issue, it puts a lot of pressure on photographers to capture truly beautiful photographs. Tamara Reynolds has risen to that challenge on numerous occasions – most recently for the April 26, 2007 issue.
“Taking great shots of beautiful people isn’t always as easy as it sounds,” states Reynolds. “These aren’t professional models, they’re athletes or other celebrities who aren’t necessarily used to being in front of the camera.”
That was precisely the case for Tamara’s subject for this year’s Most Beautiful issue. People Photo Editor, Christine Ramage, asked Reynolds to shoot University of Tennessee women’s basketball star, Candace Parker.
“Candace is 6′ 4″ with a very athletic physique,” explains Reynolds. “The main challenge was to style her in a way that would show off her femininity and her strength at the same time.”
Tamara also needed to include a reference to Parker’s sport without making it too forced. The shoot took place in Knoxville, home of the University of Tennessee, where Reynolds chose an outdoor setting.
Tamara has been a regular contributor to People Magazine since 1994. She has provided images of Ty Pennington, tennis stars Serena Williams and James Blake, NBA star Dwayne Wade and numerous others.
