Photo District News September print and online issues highlight the smaller advertising markets across the US: Atlanta/Athens, GA; Charlotte, NC; Portland, OR; Denver/Boulder, CO; and Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. Lisa Adams was included with an image and quote in the Charlotte feature.
The article discusses the camaraderie amongst local photographers, how Fortune 500 companies and an influx in the motion picture industry keeps the photo industry thriving. Even more interesting is the breakdown given of each markets stat’s, which include population, cost of living, crime, real estate per sq foot costs, as well as numbers of photo buying customers (e.g. ad agencies, magazines, in-house agencies etc..)
On a side note, the stats list Atlanta’s population at less than half a million ~ less than Charlotte. Those of us who drive in the traffic daily know this is not so. So this must not include all the urban sprawl that I have come to know as home for the last 29 yrs… š
